| So clearly I don't use this thing anymore. If you want to see what I'm actually up to, find me on facebook or my livejournal (livejournal.com/~evilnel).
I graduated from Valpo and now I'm going to KSU for graduate school. I'm working on my Ph.D. I got a dog. I just moved into my apartment, and classes start next week. That's the down and dirty on my life. If you want more, check the LJ.

| Tope was this weekend and it was FANTASTIC. I had an amazing time, as usual. For those who don't know, Tope is a boy scout camp that APO goes and works at every spring. We stay the weekend in a cabin that has bunks and a fire. I was talking to Tady and Malia (I think), and we were saying that we don't understand why Tope is so fun. You get dirty and smelly and you inhale smoke and burn yourself and ruin your clothes and bugs eat you alive and you pee in a hole and sleep on gnarly old mattresses and it's just miserable, if you're in the mindset that it's miserable, but since it's a group of us and we're going to help at the boyscout camp and spending time together it's unbelievably fun. We arrived on Friday night at about 8 pm and got all set up and played Hearts (I won!) and Scattegories. Tady and I were terrible but it was fun. I think my favorite was the letter T: things on a map and we said Tibet, Cassie and Penny said Toronto, and Mehul said tributaries. Also, articles of clothing: "THONG!!!!!" from Pat. He sounded so excited. After Scattegories we broke out Cranium. Tady and I were a team, and we were, again, terrible, but it was hilarious. I was doing the cloodle (you draw a picture, basically) and the word was Crucifix, so I drew this cross with a stick figure on it and Tady was like 'Crucifixion!' and I nodded like 'yess.... there's more...' so I drew a chain and she spent like 45 seconds thinking of the word rosary, and I was like 'noooo' and she was like 'Jesus dying on the cross for our sins!' And then the time ran out. It was amusing. I also got to draw an afro with my eyes closed "smiley cloud???" and Tady drew a monkey in a palm tree with a banana (with her eyes closed). The best one, however, had to be a charade of "paintball." I started pretending to shoot and then I started pretending to paint. I was like painting, then dribbling a ball, then shooting and Tady was like 'basket ball paint? ball painting?' She got it, though. It was pretty funny. Other highlights: Clue: actor Penny: "I'm the king of the world!!!" Mehul: "TITANIC!" and humming the William Tell Overture: "THE LONE RANGER THEME!" (nobody knew the name, lol).
We went to bed around midnight or 1 and got up at 8:15-ish to start work. We had a quick bite and went out to get ready. Our group was painting the shower house (the boys segregated and went to work on the trail), so Cassie, Malia, Tady, Penny, Amanda, and I had fun in there. We discovered that our rollers sprayed so we were all speckled with paint. Cassie got it in her hair and Malia splattered her jeans within the first three seconds of painting. We were all coated in paint, but the shower house looked pretty good after the first coat. Indiana has a lot of iron in the water, so the walls werer absolutely covered in rust. We had to do two coats to cover it up, but the first coat took us until lunch, so we went back to let it dry while we ate. We had a sort of buffet style, which worked well, and a couple of us hung out outside. We didn't intend to take so long a lunch but we were hanging around outside until like 1:20, and the Skip (the groundskeeper/ranger guy) came back and was telling us what else we could do and also told us about a ghost that supposedly haunts the grounds, this Native American chief (Topeneebee, who the camp was named after, apparently). We got back to work around 2 but it didn't take us long to apply the second coat, so we talked about Rush a little and finished inside and outside and were done by like 3. There weren't any other projects we could start then and I was feeling a little woozy, so we went back to the cabin. I took a little nap and woke up at about 5:15. After I woke up Malia climbed in bed with me and we were crammed on this tiny bed together. The guys were in the alcove in the cabin (sort of a sectioned off room that three of the guys slept in) and were like 'what's going on in there?' to us, haha. Dinner was amazing. I mean, it was camp food, so it wasn't a delicacy or anything, but it wasn't bad. The Eagle Scouts built a fire and we cooked hotdogs and hamburgers over an open fire. Tady and I decided that we were going to cheat in the evening, so we made s'mores (since it was at night it didn't make us eat all day, at least), and they were spectacular creations. Cassie called burnt up marshmallows "abominations" as in "get your abominations to marshmallow kind away!" The boys were having a hotdog eating contest for some reason. They ate like 4 or 5, plus some burgers and s'mores. We were like 'oh, boys.'
After dinner we cleaned up and Tady decided to move her car because it was parked really far away, so Penny, Malia, and I walked down with her, and it was so nice out walking down that we wanted to walk more, so when we got back to camp we got Cassie and took a walk for real. It was dark by the time we left, so we got to walk down the roads (we stayed out of the wooded trails for the most part) in the dark. The boys were so lame. The whole time they had been watching Heros on somebody's laptop, and here the girls were going out and walking in the middle of the woods at night. They were really roughing it, as you can tell. So we walked around and explored a little, then went over to the pavilion that APO had built the year before I came here (Malia was there) and then we went to this floating dock, which was pretty awesome. Tady and I got off and Cassie, Penny, and Malia jumped on it and got yelled at, lol. We walked a little farther to the "chapel" which was kind of a teepee shaped set of supports with nothing on it, and some benches in an ampitheater setup. We sat there and looked at the sky for a while and chatted, then we moved over to the teepee thing and sat by the edge of the lake. There was a sort of overhang, so Penny, Cassie, and Malia were sitting on the ledge and Tady and I were resting on this giant pyramidal cement block, and there we girl-talked. We talked about boys and how we hate drama and I don't even know what else. Lol, we made a single girls club (sorry, Tady!) and my bum got wet sitting in the silt. At like 9:30 or so we headed back to the cabin and there began our game of Apples to Apples. Apples to Apples is a word game where you match adjectives (green apple cards) to nouns (read apple cards). We actually did a create your own card thing and we put down names of obnoxious people or people like our good friend EMO ORANGE. We also had splooge and a few other terrible/funny words. We wrote down some of the combinations, but the best was one of the people as the noun. The adjectives we chose were: Henry VIII, Leeches, Tom Hanks, and AIDS. Needless to say, AIDS won ("incurable disease"). Cassie was laughing so hard she couldn't read them all. Malia got a standing ovation for AIDS, but Henry VIII (who killed his wives) and Leeches were hard to top. It was so delightfully bitchy. We all ended up getting splooge because the discriptive words were like 'a school cafeteria, airline food, etc.' I won with 17 cards, woo! It was amazingly fun.
After that we decided to go to bed, but of course we didn't sleep for a while. One of Tady's quotes had been: "Jesus died on the cross for our sins, isn't that enough?!" after she missed "crucafix" so she was quoting herself and accidentally said: "Jesus died on our sins for the cross." Haha. We were all kind of lying in bed laughing and talking. We had an in depth debate about whether or not Snape is good or evil (my grand little Ben and Cassie agree with me!) and other random things. The guys were being so stupid/silly. They were back in their little room and Ben kept getting bugs on him because he was on a top bunk by a window and Pat and Justin were making fun of him. There was some quote about not killing something or other and Pat said "why not?" And then Ben was like 'ooh, I see a guy with a shotgun, oh, and now it's the Indian Chief outside the window! AHHH!!! He disappeared!!!' It was ridiculous and funny. I put on my headphones and went to sleep, but the Carnival of the Animals kept waking me up (damn percusive string playing!) and then I'd hear snoring. I think Pat was the snorer because I heard this great big bear snore coming from the cove they were in. It was atrocious. A lot of people were snoring, though, because of the smoke in the room. I probably was too. It was awful, but I put on the Four Seasons eventually (at like 2 after continuous waking) and fell right to sleep. Conditioned response, haha. I used to fall asleep to that when I was a kid. We got up this morning and packed up, cleaned up, and here I am. I don't know what makes being in the woods with bugs and creatures and stinky bathrooms fun, but we found another winning combination this year, it seems. All in all it was a phenomenal weekend. We got to know the pledges, we got to have girl talk and take a walk in the woods, we did about 5-6 hours of service, and we got an assload of quotes and pictures for the website. Tope 2007 was a fantastic event and I can't wait until next year.

| The Vagina Monologues is tonight. It's a collection of monologues about women, mostly with the aim of raising awareness for violence against women, but also to promote the power of women and equality.
I'm going to Chicago tomorrow with Penny, Jenna, and Amanda. Maybe Tady? Not sure yet. We're going to Shedd Aquarium and window shopping on Michigan Ave. It'll be awesome.
My birthday is in 5 days.
Spring break starts in 7.
In between now and then I have two midterms, an essay, and a thought assignment due.
